Founded 2022 by Rebekka Stange.

Räkki Rugs are high-end, hand-knotted rugs that connect traditional handicraft with the inspiration of contemporary art and culture. Characterized by subtle and lively polychromy, unique design and great love for detail.


Rebekka Stange was born in Wuppertal in 1984.
She works as an interdisciplinary artist. Costume-designer, carpet-designer and photographer.

In 2013 she completed her studies in costume-design at the University of the Arts in Berlin by Prof. Florence von Gerkan with distinction.
For her thesis "Kenya in my mind" she traveled 2012 to Kenya, Africa with main observation and research of Western European second-hand clothing and changing fashion structures in today's Kenya.

This was followed by continuous collaboration as a costume-designer with theater dramaturg and film director Julian Pörksen for "Sometimes we sit and think and sometimes we just sit" (Perspective Deutsches Kino, Berlinale 2011), "Geschwister" (2012), "Harry & Dirk" (2015 ) and "Whatever happens next" (Perspective Deutsches Kino, Berlinale 2018).

In 2016, as part of the Ruhrtriennale music festival in Bochum, her costume-design for "The Strangers" was created based on the novel "The Meursault Case - A Rebuttal" by Kamel Daoudin directed by video artist Aernout Mik.
This was followed by costume-design assistance for the netflix series "Dark".

Picturesque costume-designs are created in collaboration with Christof Hetzer for international opera productions in Amsterdam, Zurich, Paris, Basel, Düsseldorf, Berlin and Stuttgart.
For the premiere of “The Night of the Sea Urchins” (2019) at the Hamburg State Opera, she designed the costumes and the stage-design together with Valentin Mattka and Thilo Ulrich.

In 2019 her photo work FUGE was published by 89books in Palermo, Italy, after which her work and encounter with the medium of photography received a personal interview at Leica International.

In 2021 Rebekka Stange designed the costumes for the world premiere of Annie Ernaux's autobiographical story
"Erinnerung eines Mädchens" at the Residenztheater in Munich, directed by Silvia Costa.

Since 2018 Rebekka Stange's artistic work has been deepening in the design of carpets.
In 2021 she was invited to the furniture fair "Salone del Mobile" in Milan, where her carpets hit the international market for the first time.

2016 - 2019 she was a scholarship holder of the Deutsche Bank Foundation "New music theater today" in the field of costume and stage-design.

Rebekka Stange lives and works in Berlin.
